Bit Too Big For The Sawmill

One problem I don't mind having at the sawmill is a log that is too big. Well....truth is I don't mind logs being too big as long as they are close to the size I can cut with the sawmill. On today's episode I take a bit of a break from my normal smallish red pine and balsam fir trees that I normally saw to this big white pine. This is a yard tree however which means that it could potentially be holding some hidden treasures that are just waiting to cause havoc on my saw blade. Despite the ricks I'm making full use of the lift capacity on my Kioti tractor in hopes that I"ll be able to position this less-than-stellar shaped log on my sawmill. With spring time in the air and sawmill slabs on the ground its time to fire up the Kubota B7100 and the old buzz saw to clean up the area and fill the woodshed at the same time. What a perfectly matched pair these two make. The Kubota was new in 1982 right off the showroom floor and the buzz saw was resurrected from the dead many years ago. It was originally a 'stationary' unit meant to be pinned to the ground and attached to a power unit by a flat belt. That power unit could be a tractors side belt pully or an actual stationary power unit with a Rockford clutch.
